Satyricon Collection Part 1 (1993-1996)
Band: Satyricon!
Genre: Black Metal
Origin: Norway
Satyricon is a Norwegian black metel band. The band credits their first album, Dark Medieval Times, with starting a black metal sub-genre of dubbed "medieval metal." The album showed off the fascination Satyricon had with the Middle Ages, along with the raw black metal with blastbeats produced by Frost mixed with acoustic guitar and flute.
Dark Medieval Times:
Dark Medieval Times is the debut album by the
Norwegian black metal band Satyricon. The lyrics are a complete mystery, as they were never published, neither in the booklet that comes with the CD, nor on the band's official site.

The Shadowthrone:
Considered a classic by fans of Black Metal, The Shadowthrone is also regarded by many as Satyricon's finest album. Like many Black Metal albums of the period, the songs revolve around either a theme of driving Christianity from Norway or aspects of Scandinavian mythology. At the time, the use of keyboards was not widespread in the genre, nor was the use of choirs, which are used to a great effect on Hvite Krists Død and Vikingland.
